Subscribing to the philosophy that emotion is energy for motion, the band has been formed with the idea of presenting emotive music that speaks directly to the listeners and takes them on a musical journey.

Royal Australian Navy Jazz Group

The Royal Australian Navy Jazz Group is based at HMAS CERBERUS in Victoria and is part of the Royal Australian Navy Band Melbourne. Made up of 7 of Navy's finest musicians, the RAN Jazz Group perform a diverse repertoire of vocal and instrumental jazz, from classic Jazz Standards, Swing, Bossa-Nova and Samba, to New Orleans and Boogaloo. The band represents the Royal Australian Navy at community events, official Government functions, concerts and open days and have entertained Prime Ministers and Royalty. Playing for audiences within Australia and around the world and performing at many Australian Jazz Festivals including the Wangaratta International Jazz Festival, they have supported and performed with many world renowned musicians including Don Burrows and James Morrison.

Anita Harris and Friends

Anita has been on the jazz scene for more than two decades. Once described by the English Jazz Journal as having a “fluid contralto which she employs to produce a delightfully creamy sound... swinging ably and effortlessly”, Anita and the boys offer a large repertoire of swinging jazz from the golden era of Broadway and Hollywood, and the verses they rode in on.

This band is about entertainment and musicality within the context of Brazilian, Cuban and Argentinian - inspired latin and jazz. It features the fantastic vocal and comedic skills of Annie Smith ably underpinned by those highly experienced and capable (and some might say long-suffering) musicians The Bossa Boys. Bernado Soler "Solead Q"

Latin Jazz and Flamenco music. One acoustic/electric guitarist, bass guitar, percussionist. The group combines elements of traditional Spanish guitar music with Latin Jazz rhythms and virtuostic improvisation to wow and entertain audiences of various musical tastes. The members display extensive musical versatility and always seek to entertain their audiences with more than just a musical display!

NEW! Cheap Frills has been playing for 5 years, at festivals, the AJC, and Thornbury. We perform standards and show tunes, including songs by Noel Coward, Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Dino. as well as by female vocalists.

A jazz/blues entity, we inject energy and entertainment into the show. With lead vocals and 3 strong backing vocals it is a very full sound. The repertoireis a mixture of originals and standards from the bands 4 CDs.

Cul de Sac

Cul De Sac held a nine-year residency at the Rising Sun Hotel in South Melbourne, and is a very popular band at jazz festivals. They play music ranging from Brubeck to The Beatles and everything in between, in a style that is fun and engaging. Led by great saxophonist Ron Anderson, this is a band not to be missed.

David Galea Quintet

NEW! The Festival will be the debut outing of this band. David Galea hails from Queensland where he enjoyed a reputation as a great jazz composer and musician. He recently moved with his family to Leongatha, and has quickly put together a band of wonderful musicians, playing special arrangements of well known jazz standards, plus some original tunes by David and pianist Ade Ishs.

David Lole's Syncopaths

NEW! David Lole's Syncopaths is a tight, swinging traditional jazz band formed in 2009 and performed most successfully at major jazz festivals and multiple Australian Jazz Conventions for several years. The band was reformed in 2018 with the retirement of the Double A Jazz Band. All the members have extensive experience in jazz circles and have excellent reputations amongst their peers.

Dr Crask & His Swingin Elixir

Playing swing tunes predominantly of the 30's and 40's, the Swingin' Elixir kicks out the dancing tunes with Lindy Hop dancing in mind. The 4 piece rhythm section, and 3 piece horn section, together with the silky smooth vocals of Jen Salisbury, comprise this 'little big-band'.

A modern Blues act, firmly embedded in the Blues. A tight unit with a reputation for delivering entertaining, engaging, impassioned live performances. Determined to present Blues music that is vital, and attractive to today’s audiences. Since 2010, they have appeared at many festivals, toured Australia, performed live to air on radio, and built a solid following. Recently the band went to Memphis USA, and competed and were semi finalists in the International Blues Challenge.

After years training as a classical singer and performer, Rick Correnza has returned to his first musical love: jazz. His passion for the crooners of the 40s and 50s is evident and influences include Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and Mel Torme. Rick will be singing swing and bossa classics backed by the unique sound of Jazz Notes - guitar and flute over a sensational rhythm section.

Ladies Be Good

Formed in 2014, Ladies Be Good is a group of friends who wanted to get together, perform and be different from all the other bands playing - a strong front line of ladies sharing beautiful music with lovely musical interpretations. In their repertoire you’ll hear some well-known jazz tunes and more. Stunning vocals, interesting arrangements and talented musicians, combining youth and experience they love what they do and have a whole lot of fun doing it.

Merri Creek Jazz Band
|
The Merri Creek Jazz Band gave their first performance in 1994, and since then have been a fixture at the Inverloch Jazz Festival, having played in 23 festivals to date. They also perform frequently at the Halls Gap Jazz Festival, and at the Port Fairy Jazz Festival. The leader of this trad jazz band is trumpeter and vocalist Trevor Davey. The upper harmony is filled in by Geoffrey Beauchamp on the clarinet with Ezra Kowadlo on the lower end playing trombone. The rhythm section is kept in check by Bernard Oppermann - Piano with Jill Oppermann on Vocals. Dave O’Sullivan on the drums, Barrie Kenny on the bass and Robert Butcher on banjo.

Rory Clark Trio

The band leader, Rory has been described as “New young pianist of enviable talent” – Don Brow – Jazz Scene Magazine. Rory has worked with some of the best local and international artists from USA and abroad. His trio is backed by the legendary Geoff Kluke on bass who is arguably one of Australia's best bassists. Drummer, Scott Hay has been likened to Paul Motion with his skilful drumming and has been a long-time collaborator with the band. Together they will be presenting a suite of arranged standards and some originals.
