I've had a varied career path from Computers to SCUBA training and pie sales for Four n Twenty. As a guitar player since the days of the Shadows, I eventually found myself playing with The Vintage Five, a local band at Rhyll. Fellow band members introduced me to the Inverloch Jazz Festival committee in 2004 and I haven't been the same since! Being picnic manager, musical director, wine taster, and all the jobs in between has certainly been a lot of fun.

Treasurer

My wife, Margaret, and I retired to Inverloch 3 years ago after 40 years in the Dandenong Ranges, in Upwey and Emerald. I am Secretary of the Inverloch Men’s Shed and got involved with the Jazz Festival through the Shed. My musical appreciation runs from classical to rock’n’roll, with a definite leaning toward jazz, which the last three Festivals have strengthened. By joining the Jazz Festival Committee, I get to help organise a community event I thoroughly enjoy as well.

I started out in music playing classical piano, eventually horrifying my parents by turning to jazz drums. My career included stints as Director of Healesville Sanctuary and CEO of Museums Victoria, where I was responsible for the development of Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks, and the Immigration Museum. I took up drums again some 20 years ago, and have played with some of Australia’s top jazz musicians. My wife and I live part-time in Inverloch and I joined the festival committee in 2012.

I spent all of my working life in education, firstly as an English teacher in secondary colleges, then as a negotiator between merging schools in a Regional Office and finally as an Assistant Principal. I became experienced in document writing, managing large scale events and bringing people together to achieve common goals. Now retired and living permanently in Inverloch, I am enjoying making a contribution to the organisation of the Jazz Festival.

I trained as a scientist but worked in computing technology from the early days of the Internet. Today I consult and build websites, but my main focus is writing. My maritime non-fiction has won awards and I also write historical and modern fiction - see seabooks.net for details. I started coming to the Corner Inlet area in 2009 and lived for three years in Foster, but since 2016 I've been happily enjoying the sea and jazz in Inverloch.

Liaison

I was a professional singer in England, America and Australia, then left the music world to raise my son, working in Human Resource Management and Industrial Counselling. Prior to retiring I got back into music and sang at many festivals and gigs in Victoria and NSW.  I took part in the jazz festival in Inverloch soon after it started, moved to live here in 2012, and joined the festival committee in 2016.

I moved to Inverloch five years ago after holidaying here for years. I've been a keen supporter of the Jazz Festival for a long time and I love being on the committee.

Promotion

After a working life as a naval officer and in public affairs and corporate marketing with large companies, my wife Helen and I decided in 2016 to escape the hurly burly of the city to the bliss of some of the best country and beaches in Australia – and jazz. As a presenter on Local Radio 3mFM which covers the Bass Coast and South Gippsland, I have volunteered my past life experiences to the Jazz Festival and the music I love the most.
