A'Beckett Street Jazz Band has performed in both the Festival and in the Bayside Lady Pizza Shop for nearly two decades. Their repertoire consists of traditional Jazz numbers along with hits from the past. Great foot-tapping tempos along with vocals, the band features a traditional jazz front line of trumpet, trombone and clarinet, supported by a driving rhythm section of piano, bass and drums.

Pianist ade ishs formed the eMotion Band to further exhibit his finesse in composition and arrangement. Melbourne based vocalist Anita Harris has been on the Australian jazz Scene for more than two decades. One journalist highlighted her “incomparable velvet voice”; another described her style as “delightfully creamy” but whatever the choice of adjective, she and the boys bring their own style to many jazz favourites.

Antelodic is an instrumental trio featuring the unusual combination of guitar with two saxophones. Antelodic began as an experiment in which the saxophones worked as a rhythm section whilst the guitar became the melodic voice. They will be releasing their second album ‘To Iceland!’ through ABC Jazz in 2020.

Bridging the gap by fusing the talents of six of Melbourne’s top artists, The Bridge is a new presence in Melbourne’s contemporary jazz scene. The Bridge melds classic, contemporary and new jazz styles into fresh arrangements with infectious vocal harmonies, forming a fresh musical synergy. They perform works by contemporary artists such as Becca Stevens, Esperanza Spalding, and Chaka Khan, as well as originals.

Boolarra Social Club brings together members of world-class salsa and rumba bands to play Cuban/Latin music styles. They have played to sell-out shows in international venues, country halls and national festivals. The infectious, vibrant, high octane music includes styles such as sultry boleros, upbeat mambos, salsa, Afro Cuban rumbas, traditional son, danzon and guajiras.

Cul De Sac had a ten-year residency at the Rising Sun Hotel in South Melbourne, followed by a period at Swallows Hotel, Port Melbourne. Consisting of some of the finest jazz musicians in Melbourne, this band is a crowd favourite.

Katerina studied Jazz at Prague Conservatorium. The Merri Creek Jazz Band was formed in 1994. They play traditional jazz, and are a much-loved band at Inverloch, having played here continuously since 1997 to delighted audiences. Most of their songs come from the 1920s, with a few either side of that decade.

Sergeant Farrall is an ensemble which plays a mixture of swing, big band and ensemble jazz. They come from diverse backgrounds, music styles and age groups, with our most senior member being 99 years of age and an extremely competent musician who has performed with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior and the Count Basie Orchestra - a mentor and role model to us all.

For almost two decades, Shimona's gorgeous voice and beautiful lyrical phrasing has left audiences all over the world spellbound and sometimes even in tears.

Sisters & Misters is a mass vocal group with around 50-70 singers, a drawcard for the past five years at the Eltham Jazz festival. In addition to the Melbourne-based group, Sisters & Misters now has a ‘branch’ based on Phillip Island where they have generated much excitement. For this year a number of the Melbourne members will join the Phillip Island members to produce a ‘super’ vocal group!

The group combines traditional Spanish guitar music with Latin rhythms and virtuosic improvisation to wow audiences of all tastes. Each member is a superb musician, having performed in ensembles and styles from classical to jazz, from heavy metal to flamenco; and from medieval to contemporary. At present they are travelling around Australia and overseas performing at music festivals.

Streeton Court Big Band was a hit at last year’s festival, and is again ‘book-ending’ the festival, opening the Friday night concert, and closing the Monday picnic. It is a big, very smooth 18 piece big band that plays all the classic Glenn Miller tunes and others, right up to those of Michael Bublé.
